BXPs, Goals & How Effort Points Work
BXPs are effort points. Every minute you train while wearing a heart-rate monitor earns points based on how hard you are working, so consistency and effort are rewarded rather than raw fitness.
How points are earned
- Zone 1, light effort — 0.5 BXP per minute
- Zone 2, steady effort — 1 BXP per minute
- Zone 3, challenging — 2 BXP per minute
- Zone 4, high intensity — 3.5 BXP per minute
- Zone 5, max effort — 5 BXP per minute
Your zones come from your heart-rate profile, so setting that up accurately matters. Open Profile → Heart Rate to check it.
Seeing your points
Open Activity. The Overview tab shows your points for the week and month against your goal, and the History tab lists each session. Tap a session to see its duration, average and peak heart rate, and time in each zone.
Setting your own goal
- Go to Profile → Heart Rate.
- Open the Custom BXP Goals tab.
- Set a weekly and monthly target, then tap Save Goals.
If you do not set your own, your gym's default target applies — typically around 700 points a month for someone starting out, 1,500 for regular training and 3,000 for high-volume athletes. Some gyms lock the target, in which case the fields are not editable.
If something goes wrong
- No points for a session — points only come from heart-rate data. A session logged by hand, without a monitor connected, will not earn BXPs.
- Points look too low — your maximum heart rate may be set too high in your profile, pushing every effort into a lower zone.
- No goal showing — nothing has been set yet. Follow the steps above.
