Quick Ways to Log Food
Logging only works if it is fast. There are two shortcuts so you rarely have to type out a full meal.
Describe what you ate
- Open Nutrition and tap the add button.
- In Describe what you ate, type it in plain English — for example "two poached eggs on sourdough and a flat white".
- The app breaks it into separate Food Items with estimated calories and macros.
- Adjust any quantity that looks off, choose the meal type, and save.
Scan a label
- In the same dialog, tap the camera button.
- Photograph the nutrition label on the packet, filling the frame and keeping it steady.
- The values are read off the label and filled in for you — you will see Label scanned! when it works.
- Check the portion size matches what you actually ate, then save.
Water
Tap the plus and minus buttons on the Water tile to track intake across the day.
If something goes wrong
- The estimate looks generous or mean — it is an estimate. Edit any item before saving; accuracy over the week matters more than any single entry.
- The scan failed — retake it in better light, straight on, with the whole label visible. Handwritten or curved labels often will not read.
- Wrong day — use the arrows at the top of the screen to move back a day before logging.
- Camera will not open — allow camera access for the app in your phone's settings.
